"Bethena" is a concert waltz composed by Scott Joplin and published in 1905, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and emotionally expressive pieces in his catalog. Unlike his syncopated ragtime works, this waltz is lyrical and tender, believed by some scholars to be a tribute to his first wife who died shortly after their marriage.
