Pachelbel's Canon in D major (P.37, c. 1680) is one of the most recognizable pieces of Baroque music, built on a repeating bass line over which three violins weave increasingly elaborate canonic melodies. It became a cultural phenomenon in the late 20th century and remains a staple at weddings and popular arrangements worldwide.
